Money in the Bank

This Project Uses

Directions

  1. Remove stopper from bottom of bank.
  2. Wipe bank with damp sponge to remove bisque dust.
  3. Pour some Really White (enough to coat bank) into clean container.
  4. Pour a small amount of Bright Kiwi just to tint the Really White and create a pale green. Mix together.
  5. Brush three coats of green mixture on both sides and top of bank. Let dry.
  6. SIDE 1 (Washington side):  Refer to photo and brush a coat of Light Grey around portrait and borders. Use Liner brush to paint “SEVEN” over the raised disc on the right side of portrait and around the edges of the circle on left side of image.
  7. Using pencil, freehand portrait of Washington or trace and transfer one from computer to center of frame. 
  8. Brush a coat of Black in area for “Federal Reserve Note” and around Washington’s portrait.
  9. Add a small amount of Black to the Light Grey to darken and with Liner brush paint around the “7” on the four corners, frame around Washington, and the space below the portrait where you will write “seven Dollars”.  Let dry.
  10. Lightly with pencil print “The United States of America” above the portrait and “Federal Reserve Note” in the black strip. Refer to photo.
  11. Use Liner brush dipped in Black to print “The United States of America”. Let dry.
  12. Use White French Dimensions to print “Federal Reserve Note” in the above black strip. 
  13. Print “Seven Dollars” below Washington portrait also in White French Dimensions.  Dry.
  14. BANK BACK:  Trace and transfer a pattern from computer or freehand as desired. Use diluted Light Grey to paint in the image leaving the border and center area. Let dry.
  15. Trace and transfer desired pattern or freehand.
  16. Paint diluted Light Grey in outer area of image leaving ¼” border and center original light green color. Let dry.
  17. Freehand or transfer “SEVEN” and paint in the diluted Light Grey. Let dry.
  18. Use Liner brush to outline the “7” on each corner with Black and the word “SEVEN”. Let dry.
  19. Write “The United States of America” and “Seven Dollars” using White French Dimensions. Let dry.
  20. To detail designs further, use Underglaze Pencil. Let dry.
  21. Place bank on kiln shelf and fire to 06.
  22. Brush a coat of Pure Brilliance on sides, top and bottom of bank. Let dry. Stilt and re-fire to cone 06.
